Inzana Trapline Adventure

Winter 2021-2022 Trapping Season

Mar 18, 2022 | General News

I had a very successful trapping season this year and I would like to thank all my guests that came along to enjoy the adventure and learn new skills. I put some extra effort into targeting wolves up in the guide area. As you can see by the pictures below I caught a lot of wolves and the moose and elk will benefit from the work done.

Jordy, John,JJ and Mark came up as a group for a trap-line trip, wolf hunt and lynx hunt. The weather was super warm and the grizzlies were still out which made things difficult but we still managed to put up a lot of fur.  It was great to have Mark back with us again. The weather was perfect during his trip and i caught a huge big Alfa Wolf and a nice Wolverine for Mark.

BC Wolf Hunts

My phone rang ” Hi Paul, are you checking your snares today? Can you bring my son and grand kids with you to check the snares as they are up from Utah and would like to experience one of your trapline adventures.” Sure i said hoping that I had something in my snares after the huge snow storm we just had. Earlier that summer I was called to the ranch as a wildlife specialist working for the Cattlemen’s Association and had to remove a pack of wolves. I caught 6 wolves in 5 days but was unable to catch the Alpha Female. This was problematic as the female would raise another litter of pups on the ranch and teach them calf killing so that was a wolf that I was targeting. When we got to the bait pile i noticed the first snare was down and there was a big lump under the snow. I got the kids to pull and dig and out came the wolf that I had not been able to catch in foot traps during the summer. That was a nice Christmas present for the rancher and a great experience for the kids.
